No BrakesFunction introduction

Yes, we all know that Lifeline 2 came out yesterday. But do you want another real-time adventure you can play on your Apple Watch? I bet you do.

It's called Timecrest and it hasn't long been updated to work with iOS 9 and watchOS 2. So, goody-goody.

The idea is for you to save a distant magical world that's about to be destroyed by meteors. A young mage from this world called Ash connects with you for this purpose.

But how can you, a lowly human from the planet Earth, possibly save another planet? Well, you have the power to control time, you see.

The story progresses in real-time and you'll be alerted throughout the day by notifications on your phone or watch. It'll be Ash, telling you what's happened, and asking you for guidance.

You'll be required to decide who lives and who dies, which spells Ash gets, and steer the nonlinear story towards one of the multiple endings.

You can download Timecrest for free on the App Store right now.

"He wouldn't be an Elliott if he hadn't. I'm thankful he has. It will be real fun to make him mad. And you can generally do something with a tempery man when it comes to repenting time. But you can't do anything with a man who just keeps placid and aggravating."

Hanger World is a barmy little platformer that will be out on iOS tomorrow.

It has you trying to swing a ragdoll across 54 hazardous levels without breaking it into painful-looking pieces.

If you do end up dismembering the ragdoll then your route across the level will be doused in blood. But it's funny blood - not the gross kind of blood... promise.

Anyway, the idea is to use a grappling hook to move the ragdoll along. But this is no Spider-Man. Heck, this isn't even Mikey Hooks.
Hanger World is unashamedly crude in looks, humour, and physics, and the hazards you'll have to tackle reflect that.
Snowprint Studios has developed a fresh take on the turn-based tactics genre in Rivengard, which is out today for iOS and Android devices.

Rivengard is a tactical RPG using the familiar turn-based mechanics of classic games such as Heroes of Might and Magic, but perfected for mobile play. In it, you collect high-fantasy heroes, each with their own unique abilities and traits, and assemble a strong line-up to put their tactical skills to the test on the battlefield.

It's set in an all-new fantasy world. Rivengard features diverse factions of elves, goblins and dwarves, each with their own unique heroes, as well as brand new creatures like the Reefkin, the war mice of the Walled Kingdoms and the underworld dwellers of the mysterious Cavern Realm.

“I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved with Rivengard.” says Wilhelm Österberg from Snowprint Studios. “We’re pushing the envelope on what turn-based tactics on mobile can be, and the outstanding player response throughout our soft launch certainly supports this. We’re very much looking forward to continuing to improve and evolve the game in close collaboration with our community.”

Alexander Ekvall, also from Snowprint Studios, adds: “We’re excited to bring Rivengard to a worldwide audience and delight everyday gamers everywhere. The game represents us building even more expertise within our focus area of mobile free-to-play turn-based tactics and strategy. His whole form shook. Anne sat looking at him, pale and aghast. She had never thought of this! And yet--how was it she had never thought of it? It now seemed a natural and inevitable thing. She wondered at her own blindness. But--but--things like this did not happen in Four Winds. Elsewhere in the world human passions might set at defiance human conventions and laws--but not HERE, surely. Leslie had kept summer boarders off and on for ten years, and nothing like this had happened. But perhaps they had not been like Owen Ford; and the vivid, LIVING Leslie of this summer was not the cold, sullen girl of other years. Oh, SOMEBODY should have thought of this! Why hadn't Miss Cornelia thought of it? Miss Cornelia was always ready enough to sound the alarm where men were concerned. Anne felt an unreasonable resentment against Miss Cornelia. Then she gave a little inward groan. No matter who was to blame the mischief was done. And Leslie--what of Leslie? It was for Leslie Anne felt most concerned.

I've played Shadow Bug before. It's an impressive touch screen platformer that's all about ninja-ing your way through a series of bite-sized levels.

You press on the left and right of the screen to move around, and tap on enemies to dart towards them, swords drawn.

Bouncing from enemy to enemy is the only way to jump, so you need to be quick with your fingers to ensure that you don't fall into any of the pits or spikes that litter the play space.

The sharp bouts of violence add a frenetic verve to the experience, elevating the game above the standard tappy arcade action games that we've become used to.
